You and Me

They’re fleeing to Rwanda,

They’re fighting in Zaire,

And the reasons are just memories now,

Their minds so dimmed with fear.

They’re killing all the tigers,

Their mother’s beauty slain,

And the amber eyes that burned so bright

Are dulled for rich mans gain.

They’re shooting out at random,

It’s children who must fall

And the anger of a madman’s gun

Is blood upon the wall.

They talk of global warming,

Ice melting into sea,

And amidst the flooded fields of time,

There stand the powers that be.

In the circle of the seasons

No solution can they see,

But brother take my hand and know

It starts with you and me.
