              The Final Goodbye

Born into desert and wheatfields, mountains and sky,

A world full of beauty and danger in clever disguise,

Without a home, within a dream clear as the sunrise

In winter you see – a child of the westwind

A spirit, restless and free.

Growin’ up never quite knowin’where you did belong,

In harmony words of a prophet, a poem, a song,

Opening hearts, fostering dreams,

Clear as the sunshine, deep as the sea,

Suddenly a light from the darkness shining and free

And the sunlight, it came like a breath of fresh air,

Swept over the hills heading somewhere,

And we never thought twice about taking the ride,

Never believed in final goodbyes.

Through years there were seasons when summertime

Never declined – as the world found a beauty that

Thrilled it – a greater design, oh how it gleamed,

If things had gone differently – maybe we’d never

Neglected the dream – maybe tomorrow we’d be

Somewhere better it seems.

As we look far away to the light of the dawn,

Maybe we’re lost, maybe we’re gone,

But you opened our eyes and made us ask why,

Never proclaimed the final goodbye.

So the days are upon us when dreams will fall prey to the wind,

With the pass of a springtime there’s a silence and never again

Will the world hear your melody, see all that you could see,

Open the window, set sail on the breeze,

Brighten the darkness for emptiness leaves us alone.

For now you ride on a clear mountain high, but you’re so alone,

Brings tears to my eyes, yet a piece still remains as a peace in the heart,

Of dreams we’re all made, we can make a new start.

So we call far away and we call from the heart, may the magic remain

As it was at the start, for the journey can’t end and the flame mustn’t die,

We cannot allow the final goodbye.
